Why? You ask…
In 1930, the revolving-drum mixer was introduced to mix and transport wet concrete. Until about 1953, a chain or sprocket was used to make the drums rotate. It was cheap – But high maintenance from harsh conditions and many injuries caused mixer manufacturers to find a better solution. With the invention of the Power Take-off (PTO) came the introduction of a better solution for mixer drum rotation. Using the hydraulic power created with a PTO, a planetary gearbox replaced the old technology of chains and sprockets. Today, every ready-mix truck uses an efficient, low-maintenance and safe hydraulic gearbox to turn the mixing drum. Chains and sprockets are gone.
Since 1993, every Cart-Away mixer has used the most up-to-date hydraulic gearbox technology. Thousands of these efficient, low-maintenance and safe systems have been produced here in the USA by Cart-Away. Don’t use a chain to spin your mixing drum. They don’t mix with Chains and Sprockets anymore… 1-888-649-5464
