The 2010 Monument Foundation Survey We have surveyed the ICCFA membership concerning foundation design for cemetery monuments. Many of our current customers have suggested that the poured in place method was the preferred installation, but we wanted to confirm with a broader group of experts. There was a great response from cemetery professionals who participated in this survey, and as far as we know this is the first time this research has been completed. We hope that this information will be useful to you as you explore ways to improve your cemetery operations. This survey confirms that concrete represents the foundation for the majority of today’s cemetery monuments; with a full 79% using concrete in one form or another. In fact, 62% of those surveyed form and pour the foundation bases on site with ready mix, and 17% use a pre-cast concrete product to do the job. Granite was used by 14% of the cemeteries and some (7%) choose to install without a foundation at all.
